    Loader lifting very slowly

Hey Guys, I thought I'd give you an update on what I found out. On the 4740 the cable that connects isn't a braided cable, but more like a flexible rod. I did drip some 3in1 oil into the sheath as I worked the cable back and forth and that seemed to (eventually) penetrate the length of the...

L4740HSTC-3 - hydraulic valve control problems

I think I know the thread you're talking about, there was an older thread by Butch that was recently bumped to the top dealing with corrosion in the valve control assembly. I took the control valve assembly apart this weekend and was pleased to see that there was no corrosion or other obvious...

L4740HSTC-3 - hydraulic valve control problems

No problem! Don't worry about pics yet, but thanks for offering. I've read about a lot of 4740 owners having problems with corrosion in the FEL control valve...I'm hoping that's all it is, and that it's repairable. I hope to tear into it this weekend and I'll post an update once I open it up.

Yikes, I hope it's not that! It's the FEL control valve that sits under the operator seat.

L4740HSTC-3 - hydraulic valve control problems

Hi Everyone, Sorry for leeching, but I need some more guidance. I removed the seat (sheesh is that thing heavy) and got a good look at the control valve assembly. Is it normal for there to be leaked fluid around the valve? I'm assuming not. The up/down plunger (sorry, I don't know the...

L4740 - loader control problems part deaux

Thanks for the tip Ray! Unfortunately I had a load in the bucket so I opted to swap the lines. It was easy enough once I figured out which hose swapped to where :)

L4740 - loader control problems part deaux

Is there a better (i.e. stronger) source for that bracket than Kubota? Also, I need to lift the bucket to move my tractor out of the elements, is it safe to switch hoses so I can use curl to raise it? (I assume I need to swap A to B and C to D).

L4740 - loader control problems part deaux

Sorry, I'm from Louisiana so that's deaux as in Geaux Tigers!! Actually it was just a misspelling, but I did have Geaux on the brain :) So it's not likely that there's something wrong in the control valve? My assumption was that something was binding in there and that's what caused the metal...

L4740 - loader control problems part deaux

Good evening folks, In a previous thread I mentioned having FEL control arm problems and a couple of posted some helpful info. It seemed that my arm didn't have enough play in the arm to raise the FEL. Using the parts diagram provided by Wolfman, I adjusted the linkage to "re-center" the...

Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it!

    Loader lifting very slowly

Thanks a lot for the diagrams, I started with the adjustment nuts on the outside because they were easier to get to, and that was all it took. I just needed to push it in a bit to center the control arm, and now it works like a champ! One thing though, it doesn't feel as smooth going back as...

    Loader lifting very slowly

Thanks Wolfman...I think you're right, I need to adjust the linkage; the control arm barely moves towards the back before hitting some sort of limit. I have the HSTC-3, do you normally adjust at the control arm (near part # 140) or outside near part # 170/120? Actually, 170/120 don't appear...

    Loader lifting very slowly

That's a good idea, I'll give that a shot this afternoon. It almost seems like the problem is at the control arm in the cab. When I pull back the arm to lift the bucket, it seems to have a very little play before the arm stops. Sometimes if I tap it back a few times it will "catch" and start...

    Loader lifting very slowly

Well, I spoke too soon! Turns out it worked fine for about an hour, then started getting slower and slower. After the 2nd hour it won't lift at all, even w/ the 3 point hitch totally down. I checked the fluid and it's not milky or foamy. Any tips? Diydave mentioned checking the relief...

    Loader lifting very slowly

Thanks Shadow...that was exactly the problem! I didn't notice before because I usually operate the rear hitch and bucket at higher RPM's, but when I lifted the box blade at a slow idle, I could hear the engine bog down when it hit the top limit.
