    Fuel additive Startron vs Soltron

My tractor is in a detached building without a heating or cooling system, the building's environment is 60-100°F 80+% humidity. The tractor is used one to two weekends a month. What dosage of Soltron would you suggest? (I have little experience with diesel engines.)

    Lawn Vac for BX

There is now a "deceleration flap" on the input side of the soft box and "deflector flap" at the back, both of which seem to do a great job of protecting the outer material from damage. Sticks and stones are going to be hard on the unit regardless, buuut it's not like the mower blades will fare...

    L4802 vs MX5400

$6,000 is a lot of money, and four wheel drive requires more maintenance and therefore additional ongoing expense, but the traction compared to diff-lock alone seems about 3x more in my experience doing bucket work and traversing wet hills and soft ground. I was in the woods last weekend and a...

    Messicks Oil Filter Review

I stopped watching TV years ago; the dramatization of someone else's life pales in comparison to the sh!+ I do. :ROFLMAO: While at the dealer i looked at a B and an LX... I'm so happy with what the little BX lawn tractor does I can only image what one of those does. BUT, I'm working on...

    Messicks Oil Filter Review

Auto-[In]correct technology is wonderful. Fixed, thank you. Good thing I didn't tell the dealer I got something out of the BK line...

    Messicks Oil Filter Review

I bought it "now" as gas prices are supposed to be going up, so by extension oil won't be less expensive next week. The dealer suggested getting a under-shield from BXExtreme to protect the fan, and fabricating a shield for the front hydraulic boots. Thankfully he's trying to protect my wallet.

    Messicks Oil Filter Review

I just went to the Kubota dealer to get parts for 400-hour service, $236, including $145 for 5 gallons of Kubota Super-Duper hydraulic fluid. Everything was in stock, no wait, met the owner (great guy), and I'm happy to have a local dealer with great customer service that has experience with the...

Cut Height and Greasing on a BX.

I follow what's in the manual, figuring they put it in there for a reason. Lube is cheap, stuff that moves needs it, so I do it when they say to do it. (Plus the mid-mount mower comes off a lot so I have ground clearance.

There is one thing I despise about kubota, part pricing

Actually, they do. A small $11 Ford marker light cover (front, side, with Ford logo on it) retails for $180 at the Lambo dealer. Lots of other existing OEM parts for standard vehicles are researched and cataloged for what is/isn't Lamborghini. Koenigsegg is the only luxury manufacturer with all...

    Lawn Vac for BX

The LX model isn't *that* loud with the 8 HP Vanguard Pro engine on it, but it is loud enough with the tractor running/mowing that I wear hearing protection. (I certainly couldn't put up with kids, the sucker is fine with earpro.) Ya gotta figure there's a lot going on with driving and mowing...

    Lawn Vac for BX

If you want to vacuum your lawn as if you had a Dyson, take a look at the Cyclone Rake. Shortcomings are: Price. Turning: It mounts to the 3-point hitch and the wheels swivel, so it's like driving a fork-truck, but being seated toward the front rather than the rear. Backing up: You aim your...

LX3310 HSD 50 Hour Maintenance Disaster

In the motorcycle world it's very simple: continued vibration causes everything to walk itself loose if given the chance, so we thread-lock everything.* In this case fine threads mean the bolt must turn "more" in order to reach a point of being "loose," at which point it can continue walking...

LX3310 HSD 50 Hour Maintenance Disaster

Aluminum usually has a reinforcement shoulder for strengthening the oil drain area, and there are other force and wear considerations. Generally a solid repair method such as welding/tapping or a Time-Sert is preferred. But yeah, that definitely works too.
