    The Constellation

When I was very young my dad was stationed in Okinawa prob '58-'59 and returned 18 months later. Our travel was by Constellation, we called it a C-121, The trip went from SF Cal to Hawaii to refuel, to Wake Island to refuel then on to Okinawa. 36 hour flight time. I will never forget the...

ball hitch on the drawbar - is there a pin-on version?

Why not offset the ball left or right of center, to a hole not used for other tasks. The LX is wide compared to most splitters, I bet it would still track within the tractor,

    Threads in valve body

Dave, sorry I gave you the impression we dug around in the back of an warehouse until we found something that worked. The plug we removed from the valve body was out of spec for BSPP according to the references I had. We sought help. The warehouse/store is Parker Hannifin in Memphis TN...

    Threads in valve body

OK, after a trip to a Parker warehouse, Central BBQ for a plate of ribs and pitcher of a good IPA, we were able to determine the threads are a 3/8" BSPP. Also, Parker has a good selection of fittings.

    Threads in valve body

Helping a friend plumb up a lift and have no idea what the fittings required for the valve body. Tractor is a B5200 with the selectable valve in the block. Removed plug is straight threads with an o-ring measuring 0.626" over the threads and 19 threads inch. BSPP???

    How to determine freezing point?

Why don't you just weigh it and compare it to an equal volume of water. Specific gravity of water is 1 and methanol is 0.79; so volume of 10 lbs of pure water and same volume of methanol would weigh 7.9 lbs. If your mix weighed 8.95 lbs then your mix is 50%. A gallon of water weight 8.34 lbs.

    Three Bond equivalents

I have always used a high moly content grease and applied a very thin coating. This is not a place for any excess lubricant migrating around. Surprised I was not aware as I am a user of CRC products. This would be a excellent application of a dry moly film. Have you done a follow up clutch...

B7200hst voltage regulator replacement- How to get steering wheel off?

I replaced my VR a few years ago on my B7200E and did not remove or loosen the steering wheel. Think I removed the fuel tank as I was replacing a fuel line also. Don't remember it as complicated as steering wheel pulling.

head gasket shim coating on M7950DT

"K & W Copper Coat" Had forgotten the name of that stuff. In the day no "good" tool box was complete without a can!

head gasket shim coating on M7950DT

Ok. Don't think I understood your original question. Can you describe how the gasket and spacer work together. Example: are all the openings in the shim the same diameter & shape as the gasket or does the fire ring and other seals protrude thru the shim?

    Generator project

Couple of decades ago I over revved a small Isuzu diesel and put a rod thru the block. A good volunteer engine and new rings yielded a engine that met new specks. Never could get the rings to seal. Smart mechanic told me to run a small hand hand full of Bon Ami thru it as chrome rings will...

head gasket shim coating on M7950DT

Modern head gaskets are metal with o-ring or copper type seals around coolant and oil passages. Do not use any additional sealant on these gaskets. Even the older graphite based body gaskets should never be use with additional sealant. Now go back to the gaskets available in the '50s and...

Finally Did Bed Liner On Tractor

Great job and your wife is a keeper! I used the brush on version on the inside of the side panels, fuel tank mount, and a few other noise producers on my B7200. Very happy with durability and noise reduction. In future I will coat the bottom of the foot rests and the inside of the...
