Adding liquid ballast: Tube or Tube-less

Was reading and will post my recent experience and mix. Just cut a tire with glass this weekend brush hogging and ruined tube. Dealer told me they would return my mix of 25% Methanol with 75% water (48 gallons total) if they repaired it. Local tire shop recommended by Dealer recovered 90%...

Please help me pick out a tractor!

My previous tractor was a 28hp JD 4x4 and I can say for it's size it was a workhorse. I took it out of 4x4 a few times thinking I might save wear and tear on the front end, gears, tranny, etc but every time I asked it t do real work it was immediately noticeable that it required 4x4 for...

Well, my research told me it was not heavy enough... Anyone want a Grand L5740HST

Thanks, I watched and noticed your rear wheels come off the ground on the 4th bale.

Well, my research told me it was not heavy enough... Anyone want a Grand L5740HST

Thanks guys - the LA854 FEL is the correct loader for the L5740, I did tip the bales back in an attempt to bring the weight more to the rear and it did not help. I appreciate the insights and suggestions, I suspect there are many good points to all aspects of all suggestions. It's a nice...

Well, my research told me it was not heavy enough... Anyone want a Grand L5740HST

My favorite saying is "There is always, bigger, better, faster, longer, blonder." Yes I am whining (I'll man up and admit it) because I spent $30,000 to do a specific task and now I have to modify, add, do more work on and/or spend more money on a tool I thought should be more than capable of...

Well, my research told me it was not heavy enough... Anyone want a Grand L5740HST

So my buddy was close, he guessed them at 1800# because some are closer to 5.5' The 2014 50hp HST Mahindra with 5 year warranty was same price and had same features for most part as I paid for the used L5740 Kubota with no warranty. Catch was, closest Mahindra dealer is almost an hour away so...

Well, my research told me it was not heavy enough... Anyone want a Grand L5740HST

Let's try again... I said I blame myself that I didn't heed my own research that Kubota's are lightly built compared to comparable JD and Mahindra's that will handle the same load safely without ballast. I think the Kubota is a fine machine. And yes it is physics, the other two are are heavier...

Well, my research told me it was not heavy enough... Anyone want a Grand L5740HST

My points were a 50 hp JD handled the load fine and I didn't heed my own research that Kubota's are lightly built compared to comparable JD and Mahindra. I don't want to deal with hooking up ballast every time I feed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, my research told me it was not heavy enough... Anyone want a Grand L5740HST

Just got a new to me 2010 Grand L5740HST with 100 hours and had a LA854 loader put on a few weeks ago. Story here http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16810&highlight=L5740 I bought a big tractor (60HP 4X4) to handle round bales with the loader. First bales I bought (5x5)...

Dang, good luck getting it off. Looks like someone let their 5 year old help them paint the wheels.

    New 4701 problem

My JD sensed if PTO was on or if tractor was in any gear but neutral. Sometimes if I didn't get perfect in Neutral it would die if I stood off seat. I would assume all presence switches worked similarly. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We obviously don't try to have enough "fun" with our tractors.

Kinda betting the "fail" part of practicing this is pricey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8USEfhnrXU And this new Olympic sport, synchronized Backhoe Dancing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-43_PF6Lac4

    skunks

What he said, been there done that last year and this formula was the ticket. We dumped the remaining batch on our clothes in the washer to get rid of the smell from washing the dogs. Dawn cuts the "oil" which is what makes the stink stick. Peroxide kill the stink bacteria and baking powder...
