I spent nearly 40 years working as a mechanic, and I can't even begin to name the number of times I have seen expensive failures caused by someone trying to save money by using inferior parts. I use nothing but OEM whenever possible, even if it cost twice as much.
Since a diesel engine will burn nearly any type of fuel oil as long as it is clean, (Jet A, kerosene, cooking oil, etc.) It would probably be ok. I know a guy who has been running straight used automatic trans fluid in his Ford powerstroke for about 10 years with no ill effects.
My B7510 is leaking in the same spot, so it must be a common problem. Mine is not bad enough that I want to take it apart yet, but the parts diagrams shows a couple of seals that probably need to be replaced.
They are real work horses for the size. I had a G6200 a few years ago, and I recently finished a complete restore on a G4200. The steering gear usually shows the most wear, but can easily be rebuilt by replacing 3 brass bushings as long as the gears are not damaged. All of the ones I have seen...
I learned a long time ago that if I wanted something done right, I usually had to do it myself.
If it were my engine, I would buy a new piston and a new rod. I would then put the new piston in a pan of hot (200 degree) water for about 10 minutes.
chill the pin in the fridge, slide them...
I worked as a mechanic for 40 years on all types of engines, diesel and gas.
I never heard of anyone honing pistons to get the pins to press in. (That's just stupid.)
I always heated the pistons in hot water, and the pins would slide in with no problem at all.
Tractor supply has Majic brand now instead of Valspar.
I have found their "AC orange" is almost a perfect match for the new Kubota orange.
I have used it, and had no problems with it.
That's good to hear. Right now, I'm just going over it, doing all the maintenance, touching up the paint, and fixing all the little things that the previous owner messed up. (Some people shouldn't be allowed to own machinery.)
I just picked up a 2006 model B7510D with a LA272 loader.
Is there anything particular about this model that I need to be aware of, good bad, or otherwise?
Thanks
