Hello there!
I have recently bought a L3130 GST... I am going to be replacing all filters this weekend. I have already replaced the fan belt and fuel filter.
Fighting the rear fender light right now... Cant get it to work. Any ideas.
Oh, how much hydro oil will I lose pulling of the filter?
Thanks

If I recall correctly, on the Grand L30 Series both the Tractor Hydraulic Filter and the HST Suction filter are spin-on type, mounted horizontally on opposite sides of the transmission case.
You should only lose the contents of the filter, like you do when changing oil on your truck.
Watch for residual pump pressure on the HST filter (LH side) loosen slowly, make sure you're not getting a tidal wave of oil!
Lube the O'Ring on the new filters and reinstall hand tight.

Hey there,
TBN (tractorbynet) has an interesting post on a guy that is comparing his L3400 to a Grand L series, might be worth a look. I did not sort through all 19 pages of the thread but there might be some good stuff in there for you to have a look at:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/135167-my-quest-grand-3-point.html
EDIT: just an update - the thread I've linked to above discusses 3 point features of each model, but there are some nuggets of more general comparisons between the two as well.

Well let me think about some of the differences between the L Series and the Grand L Series.....
The Grand L30's had all new sheetmetal, the new Three Vortex Combustion System (E-TVCS) a cleaner burning, more efficient Tier 11 diesel engine, composite headlamps, intelli guage packages with Service Reminder, hydrostatic power steering, telescopic lower lift arm ends, a wider/flatter operators station with tilt steering, beefier front axles and a wider/thicker frame, big choice in transmissions, Gear Drive/Mechanical Shuttle/HST/GST/FST/HST Plus (Stall Guard is a pain in the butt if you're pushing snow into a pile!!!) R4tire availability, higher 3 point lift capacity, foldable ROPS, available cabs with A/C and oh ya, a cup holder!

Mr.K,
Good read. Thanks for the link.
With all of the upgrades the grand L received, why did they stop making it? Did another series take its place?
Vic,
I do like my cup holder!:D

The Grand 30 Series morphed into "two lines" of L Series, similar to what Kubota has done with the B Series
L2800/3400/4400 models, first available in gear drive then in 2008 the 4400 got the new Hydrostatic Transmission or HST transmission.
Engines improved from Tier 2 Emmissions when your L3130 was rollin' the assembly line, through Tier 3 to meet interim Tier 4 standards in 2008.
The entire 30 line up became the 40 line up including the L3240, 3540,3940,4240,4740,5040,5240 and 5740. These models are available now with three choices of transmissions. 12 speed Glide Shift, 8 Speed FST with Shuttle, and the new HST Plus Transmission that automatically controls both the HST pump and the engine, this is an amazing transmission!
You'll be happy to hear that the IntelliPanel was upgraded as well! The red wrench was ditched, and replaced with an LCD service Alert Panel, that notifiys the operator that a Service Inspection or maintenance Service is now due.
For 10 years the "Red Wrench" light had a rein of terror over Grand L30 owners who didn't know what was "wrong" with their tractor.

A tractor with an LCD display eh? Does it have heated mirrors, seats and steering wheel too? Automatic park sensors?
Actually, it probably does. :D I'm just jealous.

Hi,
I have a L3130 that was sitting for about two years, I have purged the system to the pump but cannot get any fuel to go to the injectors.
I read another Blog where a guy had a brand new L3130 and the fuel pump died at 70 Hours, I have 126 hours and may have the same problem.
Does anyone have any advice to get her going again
HMMMM:confused:
