There's a little too much play in the clutch of my gear-transmission L3400 (about 200 hours), but it operates fine. The operator manual instructions for adjustment of free play are clear (essentially the same as with a single-stage clutch), but the instructions for the adjustment of the second stage are (for me, at least) incomprehensible--
(1) "Remove the cover located on the right side of the fly-wheel housing case." Where do I find that cover, and how do I remove it?
(2) After removing the cover, the instructions direct loosening the lock nut and tightening the adjusting bolt until "the head of the bolt contacts pressure plate slightly." Here, my problem is that the accompanying diagram is pretty obscure and does not identify the pressure plate.
So-- can you help me understand how to make the second-stage adjustment, whether I really need to do it just to correct some free play, and whether it's something I should try without adult supervision.
Many thanks to all of you!
