Hi, first time posting, and first time trying to replace the belt on my RFM-60.

My problem is that there is only about 1/4" space between the main drive pulley and the rear part of gearbox mount where the belt is, so I'm attempting to remove the pulley to get the old belt off (and new one on).

I've got the castle nut off, but don't see how to proceed. My RFM Operator's & Parts Manual shows the pulley off the gearbox, but no detail. Is it threaded? And what to do with what looks like some kind of retainer with teeth on the inner edge (this on the bottom of the pulley)?

Or is there a simpler way?

The new mower belt is on.

A little belt-friendly lube and some force works too. Still be nice to know how to disassemble though.

I'm about to do the same. Two questions: what are the steps to replacing the belt? And what is the proper tensioning of the belt.

It looks to me like I'm going to have to dismount the gear box, and my user guide just says, "tension the belt". It gives no guide to 'how much'.

thanks for any insights, -john-
