I have a T1760 yard tractor, I have lost the forward and reverse drive. I have taken off the cutting deck and can see the drive belt is still in one piece, but seems to be very loose. There is a pulley in line, but not in use for anything. Should the drive belt be around the small pulley and then back to the large drive pulley?
If it does go around the small pulley, any suggestions on how to get it there.

Thanks,

The little pulley you speak of is a tensioner pulley. It goes on the back side of the belt on the "slack" side. It is held against the belt with a tension spring.
Once this belt starts flipping of it usually is time for a new one.

Thanks for the info, I'll check with a local dealer and see about a new belt.\

Thanks again,

I have the same tractor and about every month the belt shreds. Everything looks fine but I notice when the PTO clutch is engaged, it seems to pull slightly down on the belt also. I know for sure I have the correct belt. When I last replaced to belt, the engine pully was not turning the deck with the clutched disengaged but now it is. I also noticed the belt was turned inside out and I know I didn't install it that way. Is there a way to check for proper alignment? Thanks.
