Hello Vic,

I have recently discovered your very interesting forum. I have a L2550 with about 500 hours accumulated over 22 years. The tractor has never been in the shop for professional service but still continues to run great. The only problem has been a considerable accumulation of rust debris in the fuel tank. I have recently cleaned and refurbished the tank with Red-Kote fuel tank liner.

The Operator's Manual says to have the Kubota dealer check the "valve clearance". I have adjusted the valves on a small gas engine (Kawasaki Mule) but have never worked on a diesel. What is involved in checking the valve clearance on a L2250?

Thanks, Ray

Ray,

Leave that engine alone!

500 hrs is a nano second of run time on that engine.

Tell you what. When that L2550 shoots a hot valve spring up onto your lap as you're rototilling the garden, I'll advise how to adjust the valve lash clearance on that 3 cylinder bad boy.

But you'll need to put a few thousand more hours on that engine first!

I'ts not required right now Ray. Use at will!
