I appreciate the responses to my posts. Another problem that is now noticeable on this tractor is that I hear some noise from the transmission when I have the clutch disengaged. The noise is not consistent but kind of a squeeling sound every so often. No noise when clutch is engaged and the tractor is moving regardless if under load or not. No clutch slippage just an odd little noise when clutch peddle is depressed.

Any ideas as to what this might be? I am thinking the throw out bearing but perhaps not.

You're thinking right.

Is this an issue that needs repair immediately, or should I wait until it is clutch time. Some tractors have an inspection plate, but would appear this tractor would have to be broken apart to service it.

What should I do? The clutch does not slip and the noise is intermitent.

I would replace it at your first convenience. If it locks up, it can do more serious damage.

It's a horrible screeching dry noise that comes from that little bearing isn't it?

It's unlikley that it would lock up, more likeley to "grenade". When you can't stand the noise anymore, or it stops moving would be about the right time to split that tracotr I guess!

Worst case, what will this repair run cost wise? I will have to have it done as I do not have adequate tools or knowledge.

Thank You
