I have an L2601 tractor. The three point lift is having a very hard time even raising a 1 bottom plow and is making a whining noise. I have looked all over that tractor and can not find a place to add hydraulic oil anywhere. I checked the transmission and it has plenty of 80/90 in it. Does anyone know where to add hydraulic oil to get the lift to go up?
Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

The filler is right on top of the transmission by the stick shifts.

I only see one place there and that has 80w90 in it. Is that one place for the transmission, rearend, and lift?
Thanks for the reply by the way.

Yes. Transmission, hydraulics, diffs etc all operate from the same COMMON RESIVOIR!

What about that hydraulic suction screen? is it clean or caked in crap??
If it's plugged up you won't get much hydraulic power!

That would be an excellent question. Where do I find that? It's probably caked in crap because i bet its never been cleaned.

It's located on the LH side of the transmission, behind what looks like a teardrop flat housing,
It would be located just under the heel of your left foot if it were resting on the LH footboard.
Remove the cover, and extract the filter. It's cylindrical. Use a pair of good pliers to grab it. The end you see will look like the end of a shaft or rod. Remove it slowly, it's mesh and approx 6" long. Wash it out in varsol and do not replace it until you have dropped and replaced all that old transmission oil!

Vic,
I looked all over for that tear drop panel and couldnt find one...I did however notice while I was looking that there was a tube from the bottom of the transmission that went to a cylindrical housing and then back to the top of the transmission where the adjuster knob for how fast the lift drops. Turns out it has an external filter. You were right though...it was CAKED in crap. I pulled it out and cleaned it up and put it back in with new oil and it works like new. I would have never found that without your help. Thanks a million. Oh by the way just in case you ever run into that again..the external filter is on the right side of the engine just where the engine and tranny bolt together. Let me know if you want I will post a pic for you to reference.:D
