I have a Kubota M8580 that has the standard shuttle shift transmission. The problem has just started, when shifting from forward to reverse the transmission is hard to shift into reverse and jumps out of gear as soon as you start to let the clutch out sometimes. This problem is the same whether the tractor is in 4wd or not and in high or low gear, the problem is constant. I have just bought this tractor and am not very familiar with it yet, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, If I was on a Service Call for this complaint, I would take a look at these two things right away:

1-The Syncro-Shuttle Lever is adjustable and has a linkage that allows for this. I would want to make sure that it's properly engaging the Shuttle Lever Fork that it ultimatley is controlling. It's this fork in the transmission that is allowing you to shuttle from forwards to reverse.

The shuttle fork has a "stopper" that acts as a "detent" . If the Syncro-Shuttle Lever linkage is misadjusted then the fork will not be sitting it's it's normally "stopped" position, therefore, any torque from the engine would cause it to "pop" out of place.

2-The clutch is cable operated on the M8580. I'd check it to make sure it is not misadjusted and that the cable is controlling the clutch correctly and that the correct pedal free play is maintained.

Thanks for the Help I checked the linkage rod between the shifter and the transmission, and found that it was bent. I took the rod out and straightened it, although this did not completly fix the problem I feel that a new one that is properly adjusted will fix the problem. Thanks because the local dealer wanted me to bring it in and would only tell me that it was probably a problem internal in the transmission.

Thanks agian for the help.
