:confused:Can someone explain the key switch on the Kubota L1501.
Specificly what does it do?
I thought mine was wired out and not used.
Today I found this didn't appear to be the case.

Thank you in advance for your help.

First "detent" position moving left to right, is "ON", second detent is low beam lamps, third detent position is high beam lamps.

Should the L1501 run when the key switch is in the "off" position?
Mine does

Yes the engine will continue to run until you shut it off by the "kill lever" on the right hand side. My L1801 also runs after I switch it off at the electic key switch as the old Kubota's did not have a electric shut off, just the manual shut off lever.

To start the engine on mine you turn the switch on, press the clutch down, use the switch on the right hand side and start the tractor with the right hand side switch after you warm the engine with the glow plug switch.

Edit: You keep the key switch on whenever you are running the tractor as this allows the alternator to charge your battery.
