Hello. I'm new here, work in agricultural safety, trying to understand gray market Kubotas. I have seen photos of tractors with nice Kubota decals with a Z number on the hood. Since Z numbers were used for Zen-Nohs, can I assume this was a Zen-Noh and someone changed the decal to Kubota? Or did Kubota actually market tractors with the Kubota name and Z number on the hood?

Thanks,
Mark

It's a Kubota tractor, sold new to Zeh-Noh for their distribution in Japan. If you are viewing this tractor anywhere on the ground in North America, you are looking at a gray market Kubota. It's not that it is too much different than it's North American brothers and sister models, but it's because the original "final build" destination country of that tractor was Japan and not North America.

The same holds true for anyone residing in the US who may job relocate to Canada and want's to bring their 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup truck with them.

While that truck is not too much different than the Canadian model (the US version will not have daytime running lights, federally mandated Anti-Theft devices, a speedo that reads in both MPH and KPH, or have safety information labels and an operators manual written in both english and french) it will be considered a gray market Chevrolet truck once it crosses the 49th.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I guess somebody decided the tractor would be easier to sell with a Kubota decal but did not remove the Z from the number. Amazing what you can do with new paint and decals.

It's still 100% a Kubota tractor, Z decal or not.
